What is the standard bed size in South Africa for Double, Queen, and King sheets?

South African bed dimensions are standard (Double: 137x188cm; Queen: 152x188cm; King: 183x188cm) and these are the sizes for our standard sheets. Always measure your mattress width, length, and, most importantly, the depth before buying a fitted sheet to ensure the corners hold.

Is Microfibre or Polycotton better for South African summer heat?

Polycotton is generally more breathable than pure microfibre, as the cotton component allows for better airflow and moisture wicking. Microfibre is excellent for softness and winter warmth but can trap heat. If you are a hot sleeper, look for a low-GSM, light cotton or polycotton blend. Reserve your Microfibre sheets for winter and switch to a lighter Poly Cotton or pure Cotton blend for the hottest summer months.

Why do my Fitted Sheets keep popping off the corners?

This is likely due to the sheet having an inadequate pocket depth for your mattress, and is especially common with pillow-top or deep mattresses. Ensure you are not confusing a standard-depth sheet for a Deep Pocket sheet. The elastic needs to pull underneath the mattress by a few inches to anchor securely. When making the bed, put the sheet on the head end corners first, then stretch and pull firmly down on the foot corners last.

Do you stock Three-Quarter (3/4) size sheets, and what are their dimensions?

Yes, the Three-Quarter is a common size in South Africa (larger than a Single) and is primarily found in children's or guest bedrooms. The standard 3/4 size is typically 107cm wide by 188cm long. We offer sheets specifically cut to these dimensions to ensure a proper fit.

Are there price differences between a Printed and a Plain sheet/pillowcase?

The price is typically based on the cost of the raw material (Microfibre vs. Polycotton) and the size, not the print/colour itself.

Will a Queen-size sheet fit a Double bed?

No, a Queen sheet will be too wide for a Double mattress (152cm vs 137cm). While you can force it, the sheet will gather and wrinkle uncomfortably. Always buy the sheet size that exactly matches your mattress size for the most comfortable and secure sleeping experience.

Is a Brushed Microfibre Sheet warmer than a regular one?

Yes. Brushed Microfibre has a finish where the surface fibres are lifted and softened, creating a dense, velvet-like texture. This process traps air more effectively, significantly increasing the thermal insulation (warmth) and making it the ideal choice for cooler nights.

How often should I wash my sheets to maintain hygiene and freshness?

For general hygiene and especially in the warmer South African climate, sheets should be changed and washed once a week. Regular washing removes sweat, body oils, dust mites, and dead skin cells that build up rapidly, ensuring a clean and healthy sleep environment.

What’s the difference between fitted and flat sheets?

Fitted sheets feature elastic corners for a snug base layer, while flat sheets have a versatile top/bottom layer you need to tuck in.

Are cotton sheets better than microfiber?

There are equal advantages to both; Cotton is breathable and cooler; and microfiber is ultra-soft and warmer. Cotton softens with washes, and microfiber resists wrinkles and dries fast.
