School Stationery - Pens & Writing tools

PEP is stocked with a massive selection of black, blue, and red pens, lead pencils, highlighters, and whiteboard markers at our famous lowest prices.

Yes, we stock Bic pens and other trusted brands to ensure smooth, smudge-free writing for school tests and daily homework.

Check the school list, but most children need pens (often blue or black, sometimes a red for corrections), pencils, an eraser, a sharpener and a ruler, with colouring pencils or crayons for younger grades and highlighters for older ones. Buying to the list plus a few spare pens and pencils covers everyday needs.

Yes, they are! Buying our multi-packs of pens and pencils is a smart way to ensure your child never runs out of writing tools during the term.

Most schools require blue or black ink for everyday written work, sometimes with a red or green pen for corrections and underlining. Check your school's list for the required colours. Buying mainly blue or black plus one red is a safe, practical starting point that meets most schools' writing requirements.

Colouring pencils give finer control and last longer, suiting older pre-schoolers and primary children, while crayons are chunky, easy to grip and good for very young children. Check the school list, as it may specify one. For little hands just starting, crayons are easier; for neater colouring, pencils work better.

Older students often need highlighters for studying and may be asked for specific pen types or colours for different subjects, plus pencils for maths and diagrams. Check the high-school list. Highlighters help with revision, and having the right pens for each subject keeps written work meeting the teacher's requirements.

Buy the listed number plus a reserve — perhaps a multipack of pens and pencils — since these are lost and used up faster than any other stationery. Keeping spares at home avoids mid-term scrambles. A modest reserve of blue or black pens and HB pencils keeps your child equipped affordably.

HB is a medium pencil grade — not too hard, not too soft — making it the standard, versatile choice for everyday school writing and drawing. Harder grades (H) are lighter and fainter; softer (B) are darker and smudge more. For general school use, HB is the safe, all-round pencil to buy.
