Cellular Decoders

At PEP, we believe that every family deserves great home entertainment at the lowest prices! We offer the most trusted decoder brands in South Africa (like DStv and Openview) to ensure your family can enjoy movies, news, sports, and kids' shows without breaking the bank.

Openview is a great budget-friendly option because you only pay a one-off price for the decoder and there are no monthly subscription fees. DStv decoders connect you to world-class entertainment, live sports, and movie channels, which you can customize through various monthly subscription packages.

While PEP sells the decoders at the lowest prices to save you money, installation is handled independently. However, many of our DStv deals come with "Installation Included" vouchers! For Openview and other decoders, the box includes easy instructions, or you can contact a local accredited installer.

Yes, you can. We are all about making life easier and more convenient for you. You can quickly and securely pay your DStv monthly account at any PEP till point while doing your weekly shopping.

Don't worry, we’ve got you! Remotes can take a beating in a busy family home. PEP stores stock affordable, high-quality replacement remotes for both DStv and Openview decoders so you can get back to your favourite shows in no time.

Decoders differ — satellite decoders need a dish installed with a clear view of the sky, while terrestrial ones use an aerial, so check which type this is and whether you already have the dish or aerial it needs before buying. Confirm the setup it requires. Check whether it needs a dish or an aerial and whether you have one.

Check the decoder is compatible with your dish type and connects to your TV's inputs (such as HDMI) — an older TV may need a different connection, so confirm the ports match before buying. Note your TV's inputs and dish type. Confirm it connects to your TV and works with your dish.

Check the box contents so you know what's included (remote, power supply, and which cables) and what you may still need, such as an HDMI cable or the dish and installation. Confirm what's included and what to buy separately. Check the box for the remote and cables, and note anything extra you'll need.

Only decoders with recording features (and often added storage) can record or pause live TV, so if that matters, check the specific decoder supports it and what it needs — a basic decoder just plays live channels. Confirm recording ability if you want it. Check whether this model records or pauses, or just plays live TV.

Reception depends on the service's coverage and, for satellite, a correctly-aligned dish with clear sky view, so check the service covers your area and your dish or aerial is suitable. Coverage is about the service and setup, not the box alone. Check the service covers your area and your dish or aerial suits it.
