How do I use a Throw to decorate a bed or couch?

The primary purpose of a throw (like the Poly Cotton Throw) is to add a layer of texture, colour, and instant cosy charm to a space. Fold the throw lengthwise and lay it casually across the foot of the bed or the back of a couch for a simple, stylish accent. Choose a throw colour that contrasts with your main bedding or sofa (e.g., Natural/Grey throw on a Navy duvet) to make it stand out.

How can I make my bed look hotel-style?

The secret to a high-end look is layering and volume. Start with a perfectly fitted sheet and build layers of texture and height. Layer the duvet, fold a throw across the bottom third, and use 4-6 pillows (2 standard, 2 Continental) to create a tall, inviting headboard effect. Slightly turn down the top edge of your duvet cover to expose the flat sheet (if used) or the top of the bed base for a neat finish.

Are these pieces child- and pet-friendly?

In a home with children or pets, washable covers, sturdy non-breakable ornaments and darker, forgiving fabrics cope far better than delicate glass pieces and pale, stain-showing fabric. Place breakables up high and out of reach. Choose washable, robust décor for a busy family home.

What is the best way to store seasonal blankets and throws?

Always wash or fully air out blankets before storing them to remove any residual body oils or moisture, which can attract pests or cause mildew. Store them in a cool, dry, dark place. Use a breathable cotton or canvas bag rather than sealed plastic, which can trap moisture.

Is self-adhesive wallpaper easy for a beginner to install?

Yes, "peel-and-stick" wallpaper is the most beginner-friendly DIY option as it requires no messy paste and can be repositioned during initial application. To prevent bubbles, clean the surface thoroughly first. Work from the top down, slowly peeling the backing while smoothing out the paper with a flat edge or cloth. When applying sheets side-by-side, slightly overlap the edges of the pattern rather than butting them up, to account for any future shrinkage.

Can I use faux (artificial) plants in my bathroom or kitchen?

Yes, faux plants are perfect for areas with high humidity or low light where real plants would struggle, providing instant, no-fuss greenery. Use them to add a touch of nature and colour to shelves, countertops, or the edge of a bath where they can contrast with smooth, hard surfaces.

How can I make my house feel more like a home on a budget?

A happy home is all about comfort and personal touches. Our home decor collection features pieces that bring warmth, texture, and personality to any room, allowing you to create a beautiful family space for less.

How do I refresh a room on a small budget without repainting?

Soft furnishings and accessories do the most for the least — new scatter cushions, a throw, a rug, curtains or a few décor pieces change a room's whole feel without paint or big spend, and swapping colours by season keeps it fresh. Start with cushions and a throw for instant impact. Small, swappable décor is the budget way to transform a room.

Will these pieces work in a small room, or make it feel cramped?

In a small room, lighter colours, a few well-chosen pieces and mirrors make it feel bigger, while lots of dark, bulky items crowd it — choose a couple of statement accessories rather than filling every surface. Measure shelves and surfaces before buying larger pieces. Restraint and light tones keep a small room feeling open.

How do I make décor pieces match without buying everything at once?

Pick two or three colours you'll repeat across cushions, throws and accessories, and buy pieces in those tones over time — repeating a colour ties a room together even when items are bought separately. A neutral base with one or two accent colours is easiest to build up. A simple colour scheme lets you add pieces gradually and still look coordinated.
