What is Foneyam?
Foneyam is a service that allows you to rent a smartphone for a period of time. It’s an affordable option to get access to a smartphone if you’re on a tight budget.
What happens if I miss a payment?
If you miss a payment, your device will be remotely locked until you make your installment payment. You will only be able to make emergency calls and contact the foneyam call center.
What are the requirements for Foneyam?
To qualify, you need to be:
- 18 years or older
- Have a valid SA ID or Passport
- A valid cellphone number
What if I lost my Foneyam contract phone?
Upon contract agreement, your smartphone will be insured. Should anything happen to it:
- Contact us immediately
- Report your lost or stolen device to SAPS
- Provide us with the police report to submit your claim
Claims can be logged via email at claims@foneyam.co.za or call us on 0860 900 900.
What will happen to my FoneYam device at the end of the contract?
At the end of your contract, you will have two options:
1 ) You may exercise the option to purchase the device for a small price equal to the fair market value of the device at date of termination.
2) Return the device to your nearest PEP, PEP Home or PEP Cell.
How can I check my FoneYam payment details?
Your Device Rental Schedule sent to you after approval, will include all your payment amounts and due dates. You can also dial *134*33011# free of charge to view your payment details.
Where do I make my FoneYam payments?
Payments can be made via Pay@ at any Pay@ enabled store, including Ackermans, PEP, Shoprite and PnP or online at payat.io. Use your Pay@ reference number provided to you during your application when making payments.
Who can I contact if I have questions regarding my device or my FoneYam contract?

How long is the FoneYam rental contract period?
The rental contract period is 13 months and 7 days.
How much is the Upfront Payment and when is it due?
The FoneYam Upfront Payment is 30% of the device retail price and is due at time of application. The exact Upfront Payment will be communicated to you during your application and is also stipulated in your Device Rental Schedule sent to you after approval.
Which phones does Foneyam offer?
You will be able to purchase select devices across Samsung, Honor, and Motorola.
Which phone can I get for R2000?
If you have a specific budget but need the features of a good smartphone, the Samsung A06 is a device under the two thousand rand mark that ticks all the modern day needs. Other devices such as the Honor X5C and Motorola E15 are also great finds that fit the budget for under R2000.
Can I cancel my contract before the end of my agreement?
You will be able to cancel your contract by giving 20 days' written notice. A penalty will be payable on cancellation. When cancelling, you have the option of:
- Purchasing the device, or
- Return the device
