PEP APPOINTS NEW MARKETING DIRECTOR
January 2010

Nobesuthu Tom joins PEP on 1 February as the retailer’s new marketing director.  Nobesuthu has spent the last four years at Engen as a strategist and the last year as Group Brand Manager.  At PEP, she will take over the reins for all PEP brand and advertising strategy and implementation.  PEP employs more than 15 000 people and operates over 1 500 clothing stores in ten southern African countries.

“My challenge will be to enhance PEP’s strong customer focus”, says Nobesuthu. “I believe that people are more conscious than ever about how they must spend their money wisely and PEP is best placed – with its ‘best prices and more’ promise – to bring in even more customers across its threshold.  Finding solutions to meet consumer needs is an exciting strategy and one I will enjoy helping to implement at PEP.”

Nobesuthu is keen to set her many skills to task, which cover most marketing disciplines – from research, strategy planning, advertising management and marketing communications.  “I have always aimed to be a well-rounded marketer and now I love consolidating what I’ve learned and applying it effectively while looking at new opportunities.  PEP needs always to be one step ahead of the market, so in marketing terms, this is a very exciting place to be.”

A UCT graduate who has worked at Research International, Added Value, Enterprise IG and Lowebull, Nobesuthu has a wealth of experience and a set of impressive qualifications.  She is a proud PEP customer and so is her 16 year-old daughter, Sive, who she calls “my princess”.

PEP managing director, George Steyn adds:  “We’re thrilled to welcome Nobesuthu to PEP, where we are sure she will add plenty of value, spark and inspiration to steer the right marketing course for PEP in the future.”
