WIN, WIN, WIN ON WINIKHAYA WITH PEP!
07 March 2007
NEWS RELEASE
PEP is giving millions of rands in prizes to SABC viewers and to children’s charities by sponsoring WiniKhaya – the feature after Generations on SABC1 every day. The first show is being broadcast on Friday 9th March 2007.
A prize of R500 000 to buy a dream house of the winner’s choice will be won by one viewer every month for the next year. To this total of R6-million worth of dream homes over the year, PEP is adding a minimum R1.5-million worth of prizes by giving daily prizes of R2 500 in cash and R2 500 in PEP vouchers as well as generous spot prizes of microwaves, airtime, cell phones and more. PEP’s sponsorship amounts to nearly R8-million.
Winikhaya is watched by around six million viewers every day and is a fundraising vehicle for the South African Children’s Charity Trust (SACCT). The programme has already raised around R15 million for SACCT and four other SABC-nominated registered children’s charities since its launch in 2003.
Through daily spots on SABC1, 2 and 3, viewers are invited to SMS the word ‘house’ to 37373. Each SMS of R7.50 makes a donation to charity and constitutes a single entry that week into the WiniKhaya campaign. Every entry receives confirmation through an SMS response.
PEP is the largest single brand retailer in the country with 1 350 stores in Southern Africa. PEP’s MD George Steyn says the company is delighted to be able to give generously in this way. “We always give to the communities where we operate and we are in every South African community because we have stores everywhere. With this sponsorship, we’re able give to great national causes and give some fun and cheer to the audience every day – lots of people are going to win on WiniKhaya this year!”
WiniKhaya is broadcast every weekday evening straight after ‘Generations’ on SABC 1.
